This week’s SafeSchools Minute™ focuses on unknown person in the hallway.

An unfamiliar adult may be a legitimate visitor, substitute, contractor, or new employee, but staff should not ignore someone who is not clearly identified. A calm, professional question can resolve a misunderstanding or expose a concern.

This week, please use the phrase, “May I help you find the main office?” when appropriate this week.

Unknown does not automatically mean dangerous, but it should never mean ignored.
